What has happened at Athens

First reported second interview: an F4 family first interviewed 6 July and refused 221(g) under the pause was asked a few weeks ago for financial and public-charge documents (employment, health insurance, a financial support plan). At the 3 November second interview they were asked whether they had ever received government payments and about job and insurance plans; the officer said everything looked fine, kept both passports and promised an update in about a week. Medicals expire soon, so entry must be by 16 December. Other Athens applicants (an EB-1A qualified in August, an EB-2 qualified in June) have no interview letter yet. 4 November: the F4 family re-interviewed on 3 November now shows Ready in CEAC.

Athens pause: quick answers

Is the US embassy in Athens calling back applicants refused under the immigrant visa pause?

Yes, in part. At least one applicant at Athens who is not a named plaintiff has reported a case-specific instruction: a new medical, a second interview or a document request. The last movement reported was on 4 Nov 2026.

What has happened at Athens since the pause was vacated?

First reported second interview: an F4 family first interviewed 6 July and refused 221(g) under the pause was asked a few weeks ago for financial and public-charge documents (employment, health insurance, a financial support plan). At the 3 November second interview they were asked whether they had ever received government payments and about job and insurance plans; the officer said everything looked fine, kept both passports and promised an update in about a week. How do I contact Athens about a pause case?

What applicants at Athens report: Email requesting public-charge documents, then a second-interview date. Across posts, emails usually return nothing or a copy of the cable, and a congressional inquiry has so far returned one line. A moving CEAC last-updated date after you write means someone opened the file; it is not a decision and has not preceded one in any case we hold.

If you are waiting on Athens

  • Expect a new medical to be the first request if yours is older than six months; ask your panel clinic whether it already has instructions before you book.
  • Every approval since the cable went through a second interview about money: taxes, savings, debts, insurance, employment plans and benefits history. The list is in the re-interview guide.
  • A changed CEAC date after you email the post means the file was opened, not decided.
  • If your report would change this page, add your case. Rows are built from reports; a post with none cannot be shown as moving.
