Privacy
Short version: everything here works without knowing who you are, and we keep it that way.
What we never collect
- No accounts, names, emails or phone numbers — the site has no signup.
- No passport numbers, DS-160 numbers, or case/receipt numbers. Our forms and group messages automatically reject anything that looks like one.
- No usernames or employer names in the case dataset — every record is anonymized before it is stored.
What we do collect
- Case timelines you submit — consulate, visa type, dates, status, slip color and an optional note. Stored anonymously and shown only in aggregate or as anonymous rows.
- Group messages and check-ins — public by design, posted under a handle you choose. Don’t use your real name.
- Usage analytics, including session replay — we use a self-hosted analytics tool to see how pages are used (clicks, scrolling, navigation) so we can improve the site. Everything you type is masked in these recordings — input values are never captured. Data goes to our own server, not to a third-party analytics company, and is never sold or shared.
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type) — used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, e.g. limiting how many messages one connection can post.
- Push subscriptions — if you enable room notifications, your browser’s push endpoint is stored so we can deliver them. Turning notifications off removes the room from that subscription.
Where community data comes from
The dataset combines timelines submitted directly on this site with anonymized case timelines compiled from publicly shared case reports. Identifying details are removed before anything enters the dataset, and source links are never displayed.
Cookies & local storage
We don’t use advertising cookies. Your browser’s local storage remembers small preferences on your own device — your chosen handle, your check-in stage, and which rooms you enabled notifications for.
Questions or removal requests
Want a message or submitted timeline removed? Post in any group room asking for a mod, or reach out via the contact details on our social profiles, and we’ll take care of it. This page will be updated if our practices change.
