Daily Digest, September 6, 2026: The London Calendar Reopened, and the First Bookable Date Is 7 October

A quiet Sunday, but with one concrete thing in it — the first number anyone has been able to see on a calendar rather than infer from an email.

An applicant checking the scheduling system for London today reported that the earliest available immigrant visa slot is 7 October. Until now that system had been returning nothing bookable at all.

Two things are worth separating here. The first is genuinely good: slots exist again. After two weeks in which the only visible activity was cancellation emails, the calendar at one major post has something on it.

The second is the sober reading. If the earliest bookable date is 7 October, that is roughly five weeks out from today, and it tells you where the front of the queue now sits at that post. It is consistent with the one long replacement date we already hold — a London appointment cancelled on 24 August and rebooked into the first week of November. London appears to be working a long way ahead.

One post, one applicant, one moment in time, and availability moves. But it is the first hard number from the booking system rather than from someone's inbox, and it is worth knowing.

Many people still cannot reach the system at all

The same discussion surfaced the frustrating half. An applicant trying to rebook a missed London interview has been getting a "system busy" message every time since July — months, not days. The help desk keeps directing them back to the same system that will not load, and no email ever arrived after their appointment passed.

Another applicant on the thread has an email saying a new date has been set, and is still waiting for the second email that actually names it.

So there are now three distinct states people are stuck in, and they need different things:

• No email, no slot, system errors. Nothing you can do inside the system. This is where the phone matters.
• Email says rescheduled, no date given. Check the scheduling portal directly — we have a case where the new appointment appeared there with no email ever sent.
• Slots visible. Rare so far, but if you can see one and you are able to book, that is the first time in two weeks that acting has been possible.

Worth repeating because it keeps catching people: neither the email nor the portal is authoritative on its own. We have documented failures in both directions — cancellation emails arriving while the portal still said "Attend Appointment", and replacement appointments appearing in the portal with no email at all.

K visas are still in this

A K-1 applicant asked today how long the global cancellation of K visa interviews is likely to last. We cannot answer that, and nobody honestly can.

What we can say is what the tracker holds: K-1 cases are inside this wave despite being nonimmigrant by classification, because they are handled by the immigrant visa unit. One was turned away at the gate at Phnom Penh on 25 August. One at Manila lost a 22 September slot after four and a half months waiting at NVC. One at Warsaw got a replacement date twenty days out, but only after writing to the post with a concrete deadline.

That last one remains the only lever we have seen work more than once: not a status enquiry, but a specific, checkable constraint — an expiring residence permit, a medical about to lapse.

Where the week ended

Seven confirmed reschedule pairs, all still from the August round. None of the sixteen September cancellations we hold has produced a date. The tracker now covers nineteen posts.

The next scheduled thing worth watching is 8 September, when the government is due to file a sworn declaration setting out how affected cases are being identified and whether interviews are being scheduled. That is reported from people following the filings rather than read by us — but it is the first date on the calendar where the group refused under the vacated pause should learn something concrete.
