What has happened at Amman

Relayed on 12 October from a local intermediary: the embassy is open and interviewing immigrant cases in small numbers each day, taking cancelled first interviews before refusals. Applicants in the thread say nearly everyone contacted gets a re-interview only, with three or four visas actually issued and the rest in administrative processing for about two weeks; an email to the scheduling vendor around 7 October was told officers are training for public charge. A non-plaintiff spouse case first interviewed in February had a five-minute second interview in late September: passport kept, no 221(g), CEAC moved from Refused to Ready. First interviews cancelled for 5 and 25 March were still without dates on 12 October.

Amman pause: quick answers

Is the US embassy in Amman calling back applicants refused under the immigrant visa pause?

Yes, in part. At least one applicant at Amman who is not a named plaintiff has reported a case-specific instruction: a new medical, a second interview or a document request. The last movement reported was on 12 Oct 2026.

What has happened at Amman since the pause was vacated?

Relayed on 12 October from a local intermediary: the embassy is open and interviewing immigrant cases in small numbers each day, taking cancelled first interviews before refusals. Applicants in the thread say nearly everyone contacted gets a re-interview only, with three or four visas actually issued and the rest in administrative processing for about two weeks; an email to the scheduling vendor around 7 October was told officers are training for public charge. How do I contact Amman about a pause case?

What applicants at Amman report: Re-interviews in small daily numbers; few issuances; vendor says officers are training. Across posts, emails usually return nothing or a copy of the cable, and a congressional inquiry has so far returned one line. A moving CEAC last-updated date after you write means someone opened the file; it is not a decision and has not preceded one in any case we hold.

If you are waiting on Amman

  • Expect a new medical to be the first request if yours is older than six months; ask your panel clinic whether it already has instructions before you book.
  • Every approval since the cable went through a second interview about money: taxes, savings, debts, insurance, employment plans and benefits history. The list is in the re-interview guide.
  • A changed CEAC date after you email the post means the file was opened, not decided.
  • If your report would change this page, add your case. Rows are built from reports; a post with none cannot be shown as moving.
