Daily Digest, September 14, 2026 — Monday: The First Instruction Lands at Auckland, and Cairo Says October
This morning's post asked what Monday had to show. Here is the early answer, from the posts that opened first. It is thin, it is real, and it points in two directions at once: the first case-specific instruction since the cable has arrived, and at least one large post has told a caller that nothing new will be scheduled this month.
Auckland: the first instruction
A third-country applicant, a Pakistani national interviewed at Auckland in February and refused under the pause, was emailed today and asked to submit a new medical. That is the first message we hold that tells an individual applicant to do something, as opposed to telling everyone the pause is over. The request is consistent with the cable's logic: months have passed, the original medical has expired or is about to, and the post is preparing the file rather than deciding it. No re-interview was mentioned in what was shared. If your medical is more than six months old, this is the request to expect first.
Cairo: nothing new in September
A K-1 applicant whose 23 August interview was cancelled called the post's support line today and was told plainly that no new appointment dates would be sent during September, and that dates or instructions might begin at the start of October. One reading, offered by other applicants and plausible: posts are working the pause-refused queue first, because those files are complete and waiting, and will turn to cancelled and first-time interviews afterwards. That would mean two queues moving in sequence rather than in parallel, and it would explain why nobody documentarily qualified since July has a letter.
Touches, again, at Islamabad
An IR1 case interviewed on 18 February saw its last-updated date move today, the second cluster of touches at that post since the cable, after the 11 September one. Still no email. An informal post-by-post count from applicants reads: Islamabad yes; Kathmandu no; Morocco no; Dhaka no. Dhaka also pulled a 29 September appointment today with no further communication, the furthest-out September date we hold that has already been cancelled.
The honest worry
By the time some posts closed for Monday, the count of applicants contacted was one. People interviewed on 21 January, the first day of the pause and therefore the front of any queue sorted by date, report nothing. One applicant relays that some posts were told to hold for now; that claim is unverified and we noted a similar one on Friday. The cable says review immediately. Immediately, at a post that has to identify every pause-only refusal by hand before it can contact anyone, may mean this week rather than this morning.
Elsewhere, and the numbers
Outside the pause: a B1/B2 applicant at a post in Japan, a doctoral student, is 217 days into administrative processing after questions about her field of study. In the re-check of 36 older open cases, none newly resolved. Sixty-five cancellation reports across 24 posts. Thirty-nine were September appointments and three have replacement dates. Ten confirmed pairs, gaps of 8 to 70 days. The figures are crowdsourced and anonymised; they describe what people chose to report.
