Day 69. The collector found little new on Wednesday, and most of it was people still waiting. The one opening came from Tokyo.
Tokyo: first November dates
Two K-1 beneficiaries were able to book Tokyo interviews for November, according to a report on 29 October. One of them had an interview on 3 September cancelled under the suspension. No dates were given, and it is second-hand, but it is the first time anyone has reported a November slot at Tokyo, where the last word on 19 October was that there was no movement in Japan at all. If you are a Tokyo K-1 or spouse case cancelled in August or September, check the scheduling site rather than waiting for an email: Tokyo's earlier notices appeared in the site's message centre before anything arrived by email. The Tokyo page and the cancellations tracker are updated.
A two-year 221(g) asked for a travel plan
A B1 applicant whose case has sat in administrative processing for about two years, CEAC Refused and the last-updated date frozen, received an email from the consulate asking for an updated travel plan: dates, purpose, passport details and anything that has changed since the interview. The applicant has 30 days to reply or the application lapses. It is not a decision: a London case in our records was asked the same thing after its conference dates passed and then went silent again. Reply inside the window, with a real plan. Our 221(g) white slip guide covers what the slip means and the wait times we track.
Approved in July, still no visa
A Tegucigalpa IR2 approved at a 29 July interview, with a 21 August email promising courier delivery within days, still has no passport. CEAC has gone from Ready to Administrative Processing and back to Ready, last touched 13 October, and every email to the post draws the same answer about limited resources and longer than normal processing. A second Tegucigalpa case, whose waivers were approved by the end of August, has had no answer through an attorney and now needs a new medical. Honduras is not a pause country; this is the backlog of a post working with few staff.
Non-pause posts and the training cable
Applicants at posts outside the 75-country pause are reading the same cable closely. As quoted by applicants, it gave officers 60 days to complete online training on the public-charge analysis, then promised in-person training arranged section by section, with every officer certified before the work resumes, and no fixed date for that second step. The 60 days run out around the start of November, which is why some expect interviews to restart then; others point out that nobody has been given a date for the in-person step. A few non-pause posts (London, Stockholm, Frankfurt for K-1s) have rebooked people. Mumbai has not: an F4 case with a 2006 priority date, cancelled from 25 August, still has no date, and F4 applicants there now expect nothing before the new year. Another Manila IR1 cancelled three days before its 27 August date and a Buenos Aires CR1 cancelled for 23 September are also still waiting.
Elsewhere
A Lebanese F-2 spouse interviewed at Beirut on 28 August is two months into administrative processing on a slip saying no action is required. In Hyderabad, an H-1B renewal held for social media links on 22 October confirmed the post kept the passport; the address to send the links to was printed on the white slip. Whichever post you are waiting on, the pause status table shows the latest by embassy, and the re-interview guide lists what second interviews have asked for, including the health insurance question that decided Bogota's approvals this week.
